What are the selection criteria for the hackathon?

The selection of participants for the task is conducted basing on their skills. The participants who possess skills exceptionally essential for the given task are favored to be chosen for this task. We strongly advise choosing the task/people for the team in the registration form (it is taken into account while forming teams). However, the final decision concerning the task/the team is made by the Organiser on the first day of the event after the presentation of topics. The number of places is limited.

I am IT specialist. What should I know about biology?

Each team at Biohack will be guided by the mentor who will explain the task. In each of the teams, there will be people who are experts in different fields and working on the same application. It’s recommended that you know the basics of bioinformatic tools (e.g. BLAST, MSA tools, bioinformatic databases).


I am life sciences expert. What should I know about programming and databases?

Each team will be guided by the mentor who will explain the task. In each of the team, there will be people who are experts in different fields and working on the same application. It’s recommended that you know the basics of databases (types, software used, what features they may have, etc.)


Do I have to bring my own laptop?

Yes, as we do not provide any computer equipment. We also do not take any responsibility for any damage or loss of your equipment.

Am I allowed to use pre-made code fragments?

No, the only are ready, commonly available code libraries.

How many solutions/apps may be created and presented to the jury by my team?

Each team may present only one app.
